Glad to see this page exists. Nice to know there is others out there that enjoy these little trucks. I've got a 73' that I just got finished doing a 2.3 turbo out of a 87 thunderbird. Still got small odds and ends to finish up, but nice to be able to drive it again.

Welcome to the group! I'm not sure how you found us, but there's an active Facebook group under the name ford courier nation as well! I'm just now starting to work on the 2.3t swap. Any suggestions on mounts? (Thats the biggest hurdle right now)

Thanks! I don't do Facebook, so I'm going to have to stick to here. I solid mounted engine and transmission by choice. Built plates where power steering pump and air conditioning would have been. Swap ended up being much more involved then I expected. Happy to help you anyway I can. Eric

No FAcebook makes sense. I think you aren't the only one here who stays far away.
Ahh, okay, that's kind of what I was planning on doing. I imagine it was, there are very many components involved! I have a T5 so there should be some fun making a mount for that as well, then re-doing the rear end, then driveshaft... haha. If you have any pictures you'd be willing to share, that would be great. (almost embarassing, but I have "courierengineswap@gmail.com" reserved to try and collect pictures for write-ups and such).
I bet that it's a blast to have the truck driveable again! Going to cruise it as is for a while or do you have more plans in mind? Doug

Doug, I have the T5 as well. Building the mount for it was the easiest part of the swap. The truck is lowered and has 16" smoothies painted body color. I did a center mount header, t3/t4 50 trim turbo and a front mounted intercooler. Should put about 250 horsepower to the ground. Plan to daily drive it, except for winter time. I'll try to get some pictures loaded up and sent over. Eric.

Eric, we have pretty similar goals then. I havent lowered the front yet (not sure how, or what components I'll keep long term), but I have a stinger stainless header, fmic, and rotated/gutted upper; I would love to be at 250. I'm on 16x8s right now but we'll see what happens when the new rear end goes in.
I'll be curious to see the pictures and what you had to do with the engine bay / what your bigger challenges were.

I too would like to do this swap in a courier. My 72 was purchased out of Blackfoot Idaho maybe 1.5 years ago, but it was a CA transplant. I've seen some good couriers for sale in Idaho. Nice stance on yours there and looks good with Smoothies.
