Hay to everyone my name is Randy Henderson, I live in Bakersfield, Ca.i'm New to the courier, i'm definitely a Ford man I bought my 74 about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. My wife found it advertised in the news paper for 300. so we went and looked at it and the man that I purchased the truck from was an 89 year old Marine veteran that served in Korea. Well he was going blind and only drove the truck to the swap meet on the weekend and on his way back one weekend he stopped close to his house and put about a half a tank of gas in his truck, then he said on the way to his house he drove about 100 or 150 yards and the truck started missing really bad cutting out shaking and smoke coming out of the tailpipe so he figured that he blew the motor up. Well after looking at it and listening to it run I took off the gas cap and smelled it and it didn't smell real gassy so I opened up the hood and while it was running stuck my finger down in the carburetor and got some fuel on my finger, then I rubbed my fingers together and it felt really oily, so I told my wife what I thought happened and we went ahead and gave the man 800 dollars, because I had figured out in my head what he had done. His sight was so bad that I figured he grabbed the diesel nozzle instead of the gas nozzle,so when I got it home I drain the gas tank and then ran the truck until it was completely empty, then I went to the gas station and got $5 worth of gas brought it back and put it in the truck and turn the key on and let the fuel pump Prime everything and then tried starting it and after 2 rotations and a little choke the truck fired right up and as soon as all of the diesel was out of the carburetor float Bowl the motor just smoothed out and ran fine. So I drove it for a few days and then the alternator went out so when I was changing the alternator I decided to completely rebild the motor, have finished with the motor and cleaning up transmission and going to paint and clean up engine compartment and then it will be ready to put back together it's got the little 1.8 liter motor in it but of course I would like to upgrade it to a V8 302 or 347 something like that. So that's how I became interested and kind of hooked on the couriers.
