What is the expected compression test result on a 1976 ford courier with the 1800 motor? I did a compression test and was getting between 100 to 110 psi on a cold, dry, throttle plates closed compression test results.

I would think anywhere between 100-120psi would be good. I have no idea what the factory says at the moment, but I'll check the shop manual later. As always uniformity (to a point) is more important than the max number. J EDIT: The shop manual just says that the cylinders/engine is considered in "good condition" if the lowest cylinder is 75% of the highest tested. No number, but for a B3 in a festiva, or a B6sohc in a 323 it's 120-140psi, so I think I'd go with that. Hope this helps.

You need to prop open the throttle when doing a compression test, let it hit 5x then check it. I was getting 145-150 on brand new rings on a 82 MA but anything over 100 and uniform (+-15%) across is fine.
