I'll try to keep this brief, as I seem to have an affinity for making whole posts disappear when they're just about done
Hopefully more guys will post up some basis of a build thread here soon. I got the truck back in January. I had never seen one (or heard of one) before, but I fell in love when I saw it. It ran like crap and had some rust, but I had to have it.
I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do with it until a running Ford 2.3T came up for sale on Local Craigslist with some extras including an extra short block.
Replaced since bought:
Ignition coil, cap and rotor, condenser and points, plugs and wires
Thermostat added, water pump, radiator and lower rad hose replaced.
Headlights replaced, Reverse bulbs replaced
Struts replaced all 4 corners
Replaced clutch slave and master cylinders
(2x now, just did the 2nd round Thursday)
Bumper rust ground/sanded down and cleared over to keep from getting worse
Replaced passenger kickpanel with new "wood" material
Replaced fuse in radio wiring to get that working
Redid some wiring in the main fuse box and replaced fuses
Replaced door rubber seals with those from a Ranger.
Replace turn signal lens in front
Disc brake conversion
^^New rotors and Calipers
New Brake Master Cylinder
Inner and Outer Tie rod ends
Sway bar linkage
Upper ball joints
Lower Ball Joints
American Racing 16x8" 0 offset wheels
BFG Comp 2 A/S tires, 225/55/R16 (awesome tires so far)
What I need to get/have done
Windshield replaced (Safe-Lite, probably)
Find window felts/rubbers to keep water from coming in at the bottom of the doors
Replace the shifter bushing to tighten up shifts
Replace the bad sections of floor
Replace the bushings/mounts from chassis to body to cut down on clunking (anyone done this??)
Figure out how to mount my new bucket seats.
Keep engine running right!!
I've got the 2.3 just about all the way torn down, hope to finally get it on an engine stand this week and get the pistons torn out so I can take the block to the machine shop. Just getting a hot tank and hone, nothing too extreme. Still need to find a source for stock sized Moly piston rings to replace the originals after the hone. Time for some pictures!
