So I installed an electric fan and I want to add an indicator light that tells me when the fan turns on. I was going to splice into the positive feed to the fan, but that would require running yet another wire around and through the firewall to a light and I already ran and loomed the wires for the fan. So I was thinking that I would just run a positive feed from somewhere under the dash to a LED and then using the coolant temp switch ground as a trigger for the light. Does anyone know if this is ok to do??? I keep looking up negative triggers, but it keep showing me websites where people are being "triggered" because they are being Nancys....

How about a lighted switch?

Theres no actual switch in the cab, because I didnt trust myself to remember to turn on the fan all the time haha. So I have a coolant temp switch that's on the manifold that I was going to use to not only turn the fan on, but turn on an indicator light.
Now that I'm thinking of it though, I might just have the fan run whenever the engine is on, so that would negate the need for a switch or a light.
Unless this would cause too much wear and tear on the fan???
