I finished my bed cover a few days ago and I figured I would post it for y'all to see. I drew up some plans a few months ago and got to work. It took a lot longer than I expected due to budget issues and my lack of motivation to work on my truck in direct sun as it got hotter.

I started with 1"×1/8" angle iron and 2"x1/8" flat bar

Then I got some 1/2" plywood and cut it to the size of the bed. Freaking 50 bucks a sheet and I had to get two because one 4x8 wouldn't cover it all.

I added 2" hinges so I could access the back. The front section was bolted to the bed. I think I'll add some sort of quick release later so I can access both sides easier.

I gusseted the corners and used some 2" camper shell weather stripping to try to keep out rain as much as possible.

Then I covered both sheets with black marine vinyl and glued it down with Gorilla Glue spray. In hindsight, I would get a higher grade plywood because all the imperfections show up at certain angles, so a nice smooth surface would help with that and also adhesion.

I knew that the plywood would sag over time (or even right away from it's own weight. I hate wood), so underneath it is reinforced with 1" square tube and more 1" angle iron and the entire metal frame was secured to the plywood and the bed with 1/4x20 allen head bolts (22 of em!)

I'm happy with the finished product, it's nice and snug, doesn't rattle and it covers up all my junk in the bed of my truck. I think if budget wasnt an issue, I could probably get it done in about a month since I can only work on it one day out of the weekend and tinker a few hours during the work week when I get home.
