Wheel width might be a concern, I think stock Steelies are only 4.5" wide. Check out the wheel fitment post on this site, there are a few examples. I think I measured the backspace to be 4".

I put on 15"x6" wheels with a 3.625" back space, worked just fine, even when I dumped it by 3", no issues.

How did you lower the front? Heat the springs, cut them, or custom springs?

I originally cut the springs and dumped it right down (this is on the race truck). Problem is, it left me with almost no suspension travel, like 1 inch. Not a big deal on the land speed truck, but I wanted to get it even lower and couldn't cut the springs any more so I'm working on doing it differently right now. Bought some lowered springs (supposed to be 2", but really more like 1")and I'm going to modify the A-arms and spindles to get it down some more. Shooting for 4" lower, to match what I did in the back. At the back I used 3" blocks, plus shortened the shackles and moved up the front spring mounting point. I'll be working on it this weekend and try to take some pics tat I can post I'll put them on the '73 Land Speed Racer thread.
