Ok, so whoever owned my truck before me was not a wiring genius. Loose wires everywhere, ballast resistor bypassed instead of replaced for no good reason, no wire loom or labeling whatsoever, etc , etc. The newest thing I discovered is that there seems to be no voltage regulator. I thought that maybe it was an internally regulated alternator, but read in the manual that it should be mounted next to the coil. I took a look at the alternator and it definitely looks messed with, the original plug is disconnected and has one jumper wire from it going to the alternator. It also has one wire from where the plug is supposed to be inserted that goes directly to the post on the outside of the alternator. My question is: should I reconnect the alternator to the original plug and reinstall a voltage regulator? Or should I just leave it how it is since it seems like its charging and running fine? I am trying to clean up the wiring in the engine compartment to my own anal retentive ways, so if I do leave it how it is wired, I would probably remove the unused wires from the plug and reinsert it into the alternator. I just dont know if it's going to damage anything by leaving it the way it is.

Haha, well it looks like I figured it out on my own. Its definitely an aftermarket internally regulated alternator. It looks completely different than the original. (And yes I know about the oil leak, it has been fixed, just need to degrease the hell out of it) Attachments:
