Hey all I'm new to FCN & I just picked up a 76 Courier. I'm wondering what the widest tyre a guy can run on the stock 14x5" wheels is ? also what is the best way to drop the stance a few inches ? I've heard of using drop spindles off a newer Ranger or B series Mazda ? I want to keep the steering and suspension/alignment happy so im not thinking of doing any extreme drop. Thank you! Happy to have found FCN looking forward to building this little truck

Welcome! There's a pretty active group on Facebook too, at Ford Courier Nation. Lowering blocks in the back, most people either cut springs or change the cup up front to get a little bit of drop. I have heard of using drop spindles, but I think they need to be flipped for the steering mounts to be in the right place, making for some wonky geometry (Don't quote me on this, I'm not positive).
As far as tires, why you'd want to max out a 5" wide wheel is a mystery to me! If you're looking to run a wide or performance tire, you'll almost certainly need to start with bigger wheels.
